How It Works

How do I convert a number to words?

What is 1000000 in words?
1,000,000 is one million. For example, 1234 becomes "one thousand, two hundred thirty-four" and 2024 becomes "two thousand, twenty-four".
How do I write a number in words on a check?
Type the amount with its cents, for example 1250.50. The On a check line shows it the way it's written on a US check: the dollars in words and the cents as a fraction over 100, so One thousand two hundred fifty and 50/100. Use Copy check amount to copy it.
What is the largest number it can spell out?
It handles numbers up to 999 trillion, plus any number of decimal places, covering everyday and financial amounts. Negative numbers are read with minus, as in minus forty-two.
Does it handle decimals?
Yes. Digits after the decimal point are read one by one, the usual way to say them: 3.14 is three point one four. For amounts with up to two decimal places it also shows the money form, such as one dollar and five cents, and the check form, 1 and 05/100.
