Stopwatch

Accurate stopwatch with lap times. Free, no signup.

00:00.00

How It Works

Click Start to begin timing. Use Lap to record split times. Click Start again to pause, and Reset to clear. The stopwatch is accurate to hundredths of a second.

Reading the Display

The time is shown as MM:SS.CC — minutes, seconds, and hundredths of a second. For example, 01:23.45 means 1 minute, 23 seconds, and 45 hundredths. Each lap row shows the lap number, that lap's split time, and the total time when the lap was taken.

Common Uses

Need to count down to zero instead of up? Use the Countdown Timer or the Timer, which sound an alarm when the time runs out.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I use the online stopwatch?

Click Start to begin timing. Click Start again (now labeled Pause) to pause, and Reset to clear the time and laps. While it is running, click Lap to record a split without stopping the clock.

How accurate is the stopwatch?

It displays time down to hundredths of a second and measures elapsed real time using the system clock, so the total stays accurate even if the browser slows the on-screen updates. It is well suited to timing everyday activities, though it is not a certified instrument for official competition.

What does the Lap button do?

Each Lap records two times: the split for that lap (the time since your previous lap) and the total elapsed time so far. Laps are listed newest first below the buttons, which is handy for timing repeated intervals like sets or track laps.

Does the stopwatch keep running if I switch tabs?

Yes. It tracks elapsed time from the moment you pressed Start, so when you return to the tab the total is correct. The visible ticking may pause in a background tab, but the elapsed time catches up as soon as the tab is active again.

Is the stopwatch free, and are my laps saved?

It is completely free with no signup and runs entirely in your browser. Laps are shown for the current session only and are not uploaded or saved, so reloading or resetting clears them.
