Why Use an Online Timer?

An online timer needs no app to install and no account to create — it opens instantly in any browser and works the same on a laptop, tablet or phone. It is handy in the kitchen, at the gym, during study sessions, in meetings, and for timeboxing chores or games. Because the countdown runs entirely on your device, nothing you enter is sent anywhere.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I set a countdown timer?

Tap one of the presets (1, 3, 5, 10, 15, 30 or 60 minutes) or type your own hours, minutes and seconds in the boxes, then click Start. The display counts down to zero and a sound plays when the time is up.

What is the longest timer I can set?

You can set up to 99 hours plus 59 minutes and 59 seconds. The hours field accepts values up to 99, while minutes and seconds each go up to 59, so the timer covers everything from a few seconds to several days.

Does the timer make a sound when it finishes?

Yes. When the countdown reaches zero it plays three short beeps generated by your browser's Web Audio API and the display turns red. Keep the browser tab open and your device volume on so you hear the alert.

Can I pause and resume the countdown?

Yes. Click Pause to stop the countdown wherever it is, then Start to pick up from the same point. Reset returns the timer to the duration you last entered so you can run it again.

Does the timer keep running if I close the tab?

No. The countdown runs in the open browser tab and is not saved, so closing or reloading the page clears it. For a study or work-and-break cycle that you want structured for you, try the Pomodoro Timer instead.
