How to Reverse Audio
From a file: choose an MP3, WAV or M4A file, click Reverse Audio, then play the result and click Download MP3, or Download WAV for an uncompressed copy.

Either way, the audio is decoded and reversed in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, so it works for private voice notes and unreleased music.
The Reverse Audio Challenge
The popular party game takes two recordings, and this page handles both:
- Record a short phrase, such as a name or a song lyric, and listen to it backwards.
- Record yourself copying the backwards sound as closely as you can.
- Reverse that recording. If your copy was good, the original phrase comes back out, slightly garbled.
Two to four words work best. Longer phrases are almost impossible to copy.
What Reversing Does
Digital audio is a long list of samples, tens of thousands for every second of sound. Reversing plays that list from the end to the start. Nothing else changes: the pitch, the volume and the quality are the same, only the direction.

WAV is uncompressed, so a minute of stereo audio is about 10 MB. The MP3 of the same minute is about 1.4 MB, which is easier to share. To reverse only part of a track, cut that part out with the Audio Splitter first.
