PDF splitting is useful when you need to extract specific pages from a large document — for example, pulling a single chapter from a book, extracting an invoice from a statement, or sending just the relevant pages of a report. Because each page becomes its own file, you can keep only the ones you need and discard the rest.

If you want a specific set of pages back in a single document — say pages 3 through 6 — download those individual pages and drop them into the PDF Merge tool to join them in order. Splitting usually means handing a whole document to a server just to get a few pages back. That is a poor trade when the file is a signed contract or a full medical record. Here the split happens in the browser, so the pages you did not want to share are never transmitted in the first place.

How many pages will I get after splitting?

What are the split files named?
Each downloaded page is named after your original file with a page number added, for example document-page-1.pdf, document-page-2.pdf, and so on, so they stay in order on your computer.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere when I split it?
No. Splitting is done in your browser with the pdf-lib library, so the file never leaves your device. This makes it safe for contracts, statements, and other private documents.
Is there a limit on PDF size or page count when splitting?
No limit is imposed. Since the file is never uploaded, there is no server quota to hit and no paid tier for longer documents. Very large scanned PDFs are bounded only by your browser's available memory.
Do I have to sign up to split a PDF?
